Gavin began in removals at the age of 19 with Pickfords, the first two years of Gavin’s career was spent on the trainee management programme which was a thorough and comprehensive industry training programme. By starting on the vans and slowly moving through each and every aspect of the business Gavin gained the solid foundations required to build a long and successful career in the Removals Industry.
After 10 successful years managing various locations for Pickfords Gavin saw an opportunity in Winchester the city where he took his first branch management position. Knowing the market he jumped at the opportunity to purchase Winchester Removals. Having successfully turned around the business Gavin decided to sell after a couple of years, not being one to shy away from a challenge he was soon setting up a new business.
Gavin’s twenty seven years of removals management has created a wealth of experience and knowledge which has included buying, selling and setting up new companies in the removals sector.
In 2001 Gavin set up Steele & Co which in the 17 years of business has become one of the most reputable and well respected movers in the Winchester area offering a full range of services including storage, domestic, international and commercial removals from its base in Winchester. Steele & Co’s success has truly been built on a meticulous focus to detail which delivers a customer experience second to none, all of which is demonstrated time and time again buy the circa 900 + verified reviews of the company to date.
In 2017 Steele & Co acquired The Move Team which offers small budget moves throughout London and due to its relative closeness to Winchester the two businesses complement each other perfectly.
In more recent times Gavin has stepped away from the running of Steele & Co having successfully handed over the reins to the competent team he built over the last few years.
